Today we try times following strategy: simply entgegenfahren the beautiful weather. Rein in the car, and from the Tauern Motorway After Carinthia. There should – If the weather forecast is right - the Sun appear. After almost two hours by car, we achieve Spital an der Drau and something to be disappointed: Sun short supply, but at least it's not raining.

Alpine rose on the way to the Tschiernock
We leave the A10 Tauern Motorway in the direction of Millstatt, then follow direction Seeboden and from there to Treffling. A toll panoramic road leads us into the Nature experience area Tschiernock - Hochpalfennock up to the John farmer hut hinauf .
Here we start our today's Mountain tour . We wandern first to the East the Jagasteig towards Sommereggerhuette along . The Hiking trail is very flat and easily accessible. It takes too long until we encounter a junction, where a Nature trail from the Jagasteig. We assume not just, but slightly left and now follow the Height Rundwanderweg.
Unfortunately the Sun through the clouds through penetrates. There is something cool. After a nine hour hike, we have not many metres behind us, but it is still cool and especially windy. We come to the mountain station of a somewhat competing looking chair lift. The thermometer displays plus two degrees and that end of June!
I leave with the best wife of all. Temperature in ignorance, because now we have to up to the Ridge, the of the Hochpalfennock to the Tschiernock leads . There will be certainly still colder. A tourist group comes to us and reported, that they have repented, because it is there above extremely windy and cold, and because they are stuck in the snow wading.
We can not imagine at all this and continue undeterred. The way is now steep, but South Tyrol for us walking gewohnte not at all difficult. Wind in abundance, even extremely strong wind. Memories of the Mountain tour Gampenpass Laugenspitze in South Tyrol come on. Almost equally whistles us here in Carinthia the wind around your ears, It is almost unbearable.
The knietiefe snow passage turns out to be knöcheltiefer, 2 m long, flat 4 until 5 m wide path. No problem so!
Tschiernock

Cross on the Tschiernock
Before us lies the Tschiernock (2.088 m). From here you could the prospect of the western end of Lake Millstatt enjoy, If it were not so windy and cool. We keep on not long, just immediately go through the Gamsbrünndl-Steig down. After 20 Minutes is aware, that we are totally wrong gone the planed route and shortened by several kilometers (something else) have, what doesn't matter to us but, given the "gross" conditions.
After a total approximately 1,5 Hours we reach the starting point at the John farmer works and decide to begin the trip home.

Grossglockner High Alpine road
The best wife from all : "How about if we have that" Grossglockner road back would go to Zell am see? "According to map that looks almost equidistant." I: "Yes", "can we make".
We pass Holy Blood (1.288 m), an Alpine village shortly before the start of the Grossglockner High Alpine road. After a few minutes we reach the toll House, where a lady pushes us English-language brochure in the hand (is likely to bring our Italian flag back) and about 28 euro relieved. The 28 euros are of course not for the brochure, but for the toll!
Usually we make something on foot, today is so high up it times motorized. We go higher into the Glacier area the The Grossglockner. The weather is miserable! Glacier tongues can be seen at the edge of the road. According to the Imperial corner (1.911 m) We meet at a roundabout. Although we'd have to the right, but we choose to the left to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs Höhe to drive, the 28 euro due to
The best wife of all is getting restless. It doesn't take long until she log on: "Kearn me to"!"I am of course not for the reverse", so easily I have still never so high up. Just before the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs Höhe a tunnel, the car makes a Schlenkerer – quasi cardiac arrest – not only in the best wife of all.
I regret it a tiny bit with a rear-wheel drive at 0 degrees Celsius and bad weather on 2.500 m above sea level in a glacier area around to curve, but there are only a few meters. It continues in a snail's pace, We achieve salvation Kaiser-Franz-Josefs Höhe (2.369 m).
Kaiser-Franz-Josefs Höhe am Großglockner
Now I would like to tell grandiose and overwhelming the prospect of the highest mountain in Austria, the Grossglockner, and the Pasterzengletscher Here is. Unfortunately I can't. Fog and clouds obstruct the view. We will see a BERGWAND, a Mountain Lake und Glacier tongues, from the Grossglockner peak is, however, to see anything. What a pity .

View of the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs Höhe on the foot of the Grossglockner
Can you do anything. Rein in the car and back to the roundabout and this time in the direction of Salzburger Land .
Now, the most dangerous piece is probably hopefully are behind us. Far from! The curvy High Alpine road leads through dense fog and easy to gezuckertem asphalt to the pass Furscher Törl on 2.428 m up. With summer tires and rear-wheel drive a medium-sized disaster!
After the Furscher Törl, you could right to the Edelweiss tip on 2.571 Start m. From there you should the Zeller See Lake and the Dientener mountains see . We present us this ride and drive past the House for Alpine nature show down in the Fuschern Valley. At the end of the Grossglockner High Alpine road at Ferleiten It would be a Wildlife Park, but we have had today enough "wilderness"! It is now transferred Fusch and Bruck back in the Hotel Tirolerhof on the Zeller Lake.
