Laives-Maria Weißenstein pilgrimage

I so long, however. Today I must give way. One Pilgrimage, actually next on a pilgrimage walk from Johannesburg After Maria Weißenstein at Petersberg. Why I ask me so long let? Excursions to places of pilgrimage are usually relatively little promising, so that the hiking This makes me little fun. As we in August 2008 by Graun to the Sanctuary of San Romedio are moved, This was the case and the migration of Laives promises to be similar to Petersberg and Maria Weissenstein, because we are walking all the time halfway through a Valley, It runs from East to West. Opportunities, to make a Summit or vantage point, not have we for this hike in any case.

By the Brantental from Laives to the pilgrimage church of Maria Weissenstein in Petersberg

No matter, We make on us after Laives and start our ascent to the House of Emmaus (Ex-Hotel Moser) on the steep, Pilgrimage path paved with natural stone (Road marking 1). The way leads us first quite steeply up to the Peterkoefele upwards , where a small church above the city Johannesburg towers. Taking pictures is.

Hmm… The small church is almost better than of front from the rear. So scan the back. Because I put it but not of the heart, to have only the back digitally captured, I look at past times front and wants to make on the setting up of three teeth, as an apparently local family gives me a tip: Front, outside of Holzgeländers, is a rock, tagged the a wonderful lookout point.

The son has been so kind and help me, my gear over the fence to heave and waits even until I'm done with my Fotografiererei, back to help me and my equipment.

After about half an hour we walk on. He for one Hiking trail quite wide way is now not quite so steep. It will take us not only to the stations of the cross, but also in aluminium- Panels with the marking of the Waldviertel. Because the one or the other term is so funny, will I list them here:

  • Emmaus – earlier Bäck mill
  • Bäck Velde height
  • Peter Köfele
  • Koefelereih
  • Cava Righi
  • Brunnerreih
  • Buchner cross
  • Buchner Brook
  • Hirschegg
  • Linden Valley
  • Scholeregg
  • Zaunegg
  • Half way
  • Melcherboden
  • Fluorite mine
  • Veronika
  • New path
  • Feichtenreih
  • Angelic wall
  • Schupfer Valley
  • waterfall
  • Schupfer cross
  • Pitschö three quarter way
  • Poor souls
  • Mason Brook
  • Stone mill
  • Landererpill
  • Stone pond
  • Red Cross Calvary
  • In addition to the Bründlwiese

The pilgrimage is - apart from the single viewpoint Peterköfele – as suggested little promising, at today's temperatures quite pleasant to go for.

Das Gasthaus bei Halbweg schaut irgendwie verlassen aus.

The Inn at half way looks somehow leave.

About midway, we encounter an abandoned and partially ruined Inn. I can think hard, that it should be managed in the summer.

Go, wandern, Step by step, Kreuzwegstation to Kreuzwegstation, Shield to sign after approx. 2 h 3 / 4 we meet first on a farm before we the Petersberg road-Deutschnofen reach . Two, We have three steps through the forest and for the first time a halfway reasonable view of the village of Deutschnofen/Nova Ponente.

But, we must further up to the Monastery Maria Weissenstein, therefore cross the street and walk now comfortably only moderately rising up to the monastery on 1.520 m up. The last 100 Meters are for me torture. The first hike for this year takes its toll. Although I found the hike as especially strenuous, Vex me muscle spasms, which force me almost to the halting.

At last , After 3.5 hours and 10 km we are faced with the monastery of Maria Weissenstein and have to cope with the stairs only. 5 Stages, then niedersitzen until the cramp is gone, again 5 Levels, etc.. So, a real pilgrimage!

After the ordeal, I will not in the Church, but as soon as possible in the Inn, because in addition to the Muskelkrampf, also a huge famine plaguing me. Therefore, I have dragged here up two heavy burdens.

"Back there just a scheans Platzl." "Ok." We sit and drop our backpacks.

Like a bolt shoots me now through the brain: Wallet! "HOSCH you a money with"?"Na." Sch… and now? It is left nothing else, to pack our things and finding the distance. Fortunately, we have ordered at least nothing.

I confess, that I can hide the anger difficult about my forgetfulness. Pretty grantig I sit down in front of the entrance to the Church on a bank, to wait until my significant other has visited the Church.

We are still angry then as soon as possible on the way back. We want to go back through the Brantental along the Brantentalbaches. So back to the street Petersberg-Deutschnofen, This crossing and then following the path of 5b towards Nova Ponente/Deutschnofen, but by the Brantental side is separated from us.

Deutschnofen/Nova Ponente with Sciliar in the background

The view of the village of quite idyllic-looking from here, the look wide for today unfamiliar soothes my heart. The anger disappears. We rise very steeply, passing a ruined Chapel up to the Brantentalbach from. The Steep track would lead us also to Deutschnofen/Nova Ponente, We turn in the Valley arrived left and follow the course of the stream to the right on a wide dirt road.

The way back is extremely in the length. A small waterfall and a tree are the highlight, trying to grow the across the Gorge to the other shore.

Somehow the Brantental resembles pretty much the way to San Romedio. Just like on our hike San Romedio hike we right the Creek, very moderately descending, Our goal with the only difference to, that this time the car – and not the monastery – Our goal is.

Halfway we reach an Inn, which we are be right because the forgotten wallet. From here we walk back to our starting point on the road.

20 km pilgrimage are behind us. As for this year was my first relevant sporting activity, Muscle cramps accompanied me, my hunger could not be satisfied and I had to bear the wrath on top of that with, a real Pilgrimage. Thank God, it is assumed but ultimately good and I am me spaghetti Carbonara from best wife of all now on a large plate.
