Hiking tour of the Hundstein Thumersbach

Hundstein, that sounds so fun, "because we must necessarily up", so the best wife of all before two days before a Walking shield, during the Hike around the Zell am see. No problem, can we make. The plan promises a hearty Mountain tour . It should be me right.

Auf den Weg zum Hundstein - Blick auf den Zeller See

On the way to the Hundstein - View of the Zeller See Lake

Today the cloud cover should again, located in the Pinzgau, partially open. Really, present the first rays of the Sun after breakfast. Zell am see is located under a cloud of hole.

We are driving up to Thumersbach and then to the end of the Valley road of the Thumersbacher tales.

When the sun shines – We almost can't believe it – We climb the Dog Steinweg (Walking route No.. 80, Part of the Arnoweg trail) relatively steep East on. Gradually it goes over hill and Dale through the dense forest.

The Zeller Lake is located in our back. Now we have unfortunately passed the shadow border. The Blue Lake in the valley below is still the most beautiful sunshine, so we must turn again and again over, to enjoy the view of the beautiful part of the world.

After a rapid hike We come from approximately one hour in the Skiing (1.663 m)the Material realm at . A tree free lawn provides us with a great view over the Valley.

Now we walk further slow. That has as its Gruende…

Already faded or standing still in bloom Alpine roses (I unfortunately don't know), left and right of way, indicate us, We are in the airy heights. There are trees here no more.

The alleged summits before us arises from Arete between Schoenwieskogel (1.994 m) und Ochsenkopf (1.995) out. The Hundstein (2.117 m) lies before us. Links we could now turn to the Schönwieskogel. We continue straight on, the Swallow wall range (Hiking trail No. . 87) following , on a somewhat suspended path on slope of Ochsenkopf, about the Green karmic Alpine, up to the crossroads Swallow wall range (Nr. 87) und Thumersbacher-Kammweg (Nr. 84), We want to use as way back.

Yet the way back is not on. We want to conquer first Summit of the Hundstein. About 20 Minutes long a steep path leads to the Summit up.

Hundstein and Statzerhaus

The Hundstein is reached. That lies ahead of us Statzerhaus, links of Summit cross and a great view of the Zeller Lake.

We enter the restaurant of the Statzerhauses. A very sultry and moist air blast beats to us. The Windows are fogged completely. Here someone fires apparently up correctly ;-) The best wife from all, that has almost always notoriously cold, is this very right.

We order tee, Mineral water and a glass of wine. It has raining started. What the heck, We order a vortex and just wait. 10 Minutes are over, the rain has moved, We decide, taking back.

On the steep climb it goes back to the fork Thumersbacher Ridge (Track Nr. 84). After 5 Minutes it begins to rain. No matter, We do not repent and just go ahead. The rain jackets deliver on their promise, but the pants not water-repellent and socks suck full. We are klitschnass, trudging but still brave the Zeller Lake opposed.

Now we are on a wide dirt road. The rain is less and less. We even some sunshine through the clouds through seem. After a half hour March our pants are in turn dry and the clouds almost completely disappeared.

Passing on Hochmoor , most Schafskopf, most Wide head and in the Valve plug ° C, wandern We in the direction of Genziana hut.
We reach a tree-free zone in a right turn, which us a delightful view of the Pinzgau brings the Zeller Lake. Finally we can Holiday resort experience in sunshine! After the next right turn a bank forces us to the pegs. 15 We spend minutes to save the rain gear so overjoyed. The meadow in front of us and the blue Zeller Lake among us. Wonderful hiking, the slogan, the fallen in the water Wanderopenings, occurs to us.

Endlich mal ein wenig Sonnenschein ;-)

Finally a little sunshine ;-)

Long our luck, not o. Raindrops need the rain again about stripes and continue walking. Anything below the Genziana hut, we turn right in the forest Heimweg (No. . 85) a, the us in approximately one hour to the end of the Thumersbachertal Valley Road, brings .

Today's Hike to the Hundstein offered an interesting demanding climb, a great view on the Summit and a relatively simple way back on wider dirt roads with little gradient, but this pretty full-length pull. Regarding weather we had today everything: Sunshine, Shade, Drizzle, Rain showers, Heat, Cold, so everything, what you'll need to ;-)
