One Autumn walk would therefore be appropriate. We opt for the hike from Siebeneich (Terlano) past the ruins of Castle Greifenstein (Yahoo Castle) until after Glaning near Jenesien .

To fourth (Friend with girlfriend, the best friend of all and I) We start from the Centre Siebeneich to the East the forest and mountain. The Hiking trail will take us along from vineyards, passing a private religious authority in the forest and then the mountain high. The Hiking trail is not just flat, We have about 850 Meters ahead, for this he offers a pretty good view towards the South and West of that again and again Etschtal with the small wine village St . Pauls at Appiano, the three castles triangle with the three Castles Hocheppan, Castle Boymont und Castle basket (see Hike three castles), with Perdonig and the Gantkofel about, with Andrian and the Group Gaid and with NALS.

After about an hour hike and approximately 400 We reach the ruins of M Greifenstein also Yahoo Castle called.

History of Greifenstein Saussure Castle

The first mention of the Castle leading up to the year 1158 back. She was first owned by the family of Greifenstein and fell after the last members of the family in the battle of Sempach 1386 was fallen into the possession of the Lords of Starkenberg.

1423 the castle was besieged by Frederick IV "with the empty bag". The besieged, including the famous minnesinger Oswald von Wolkenstein (has written a song about the events) have entwunden with a list of the siege. As a sign, that a siege was eliminated and would take an eternity you threw a roasted pig through the Castle's walls the enemy down. The besiegers, which is not suspected, that the pig was the last pig of the Castle crew, the desire for a long siege has passed out and they moved away.

You will reach the castle in the inner a two meter break in order to take. The Courtyard is fairly continuous and mostly addicted to the walls. However, you can see them, that the castle was once a very strong and extensive system.

It is located at the end of this road Noafer Hof, a popular refreshment stop possible not only to hikers, but also for Sonntagsausflügler.

The Noafer Hof

We are looking for a place in the Sun us. Unfortunately, all corresponding tables are occupied. The best friend of all can not give up the Sun and asks an older pair of German holiday whether we ourselves put to them at the table may.

It takes an interesting conversation between us locals not long until Biathletes and the German Holiday pair developed. As so often turns out to be, that our South Tyrolean guests are very well informed and are even better in the familiar than we do. The Lord tells us, that he has a life long after South Tyrol come and it very well like him. He told stories of the past: South Tyrol in the years of the option, South Tyrol after the war, South Tyrol in the years of construction, etc.. He knows many interesting events and also just to report what has changed everything. I am pleased to speak it "Juniors" visually with us, but there is still much more so much interesting facts about our country by a contemporary witnesses us, of the facts as a neutral observer (not South Tyrol, not Italian) can tell, to find out.

Continue towards Oberglaning and way back to Siebeneich

After 2 Hours special lunch and many interesting stories about South Tyrol, the land of our fathers, We say goodbye. Also guests are visibly pleased young South Tyrol, that gladly listen, to have come to know. Yes I commend us here simply times even. I think we have done our cause well and leave a positive impression, so that the pair of holiday comes even more many years after South Tyrol.

On the way to Oberglaning. Bound to a wooden fence with Knüttel wood.

About meadows, over at a farm it goes into in the forest, then by a road up to a small collection of houses (Inn PLATTNER). Now we have the highest point (1050 m) our walk achieved and walk right onto towards Obergruber und Rumsein. It now passes on the road along Apple fields and meadows.

A short time until the ends with a barrier of forest and we takes it first on a blocked road and then a Forest path towards Help castle ruins und Friedrichtshoehe continue hiking.

The trail which leads us down in the Adige Valley is somewhat dusty, because the terrain is quite dry. After a total approximately 4 Hours Hiking time We would like to reach the main road and have to run only a few hundred meters back to our point of.

    Hello ,
My wife and I are most 07.09.2008 almost also there “top” have been. We made a few days rest in seven to the rückreise from Tuscany and have made a batch of Fastfix, on a recommendation from our host to the ruins of Castle Greifenstein. Despite the shadow in the forest, the 28Grad were pretty sweaty. The ruin was sensational, We have not found first the entrance and only noise of determined 200 People heard. It was only a small family of Italian, that came at a time geklettert from the walls. We are up and have made sensational photos. Then we are then on through the forest with chestnut trees and apple orchards by up to the “Erbhof”.
The first beer in my dry throat and the flair of this very old, wood-panelled lounge made unforgettable place me. Last week (23.10.2009) was I there again times, After a stint in Bolzano. There was manure-fog weather and the Sun was shining up there.

We have also this hike you taken this wonderful report on attack. We are broken which although on a very cloudy day, but I think the view which we got to see on Greifenstein was also unique as with sunshine.
The fact is that we have up there decided to purchase a single-lens reflex :)

We have dealt with the rest of the hike almost according to plan, but just before the turn-off to the castle with help we chose ruin the direct route to Siebeneich. The guide was recognisable although not of the CAI, but by private, but we went without much thinking closer to the “Cliffs”. From then on was a nearly 90% Way down. Great for after, but not for families!!!

I was to have found at least below salvation glad at all the way down and to have survived the Salvation.
